Summer is almost here with Memorial weekend being right around the corner! I already feel like May is going so fast. In Michigan, you might get a few warm days in May, but June is where it gets hot! In Texas however, the warmth comes in BLAZIN’ early. We have already had a few 95 degrees days… whew! The pool is where you will find us any time we are not at work.
There’s also that feeling of being inside too much because the heat is overpowering sometimes. I’m trying to limit the inside time with finding fun water activities for Cal that he can use in the backyard. That way he still gets fresh air – but not struggling in the heat!
We went swimming this past weekend at our friend’s neighborhood pool since ours opens up this weekend (YAY) and I had to get Cal some new swim trunks since he is a growing boy. Old Navy and Target are normally my go-to for swim trunks mainly because they are not overly expensive, and he needs a few since he will go multiple days in the water.
Old Navy is pretty good about having some sales on swim! Calihan’s swim shorts (in a few of the colors) are on sale right now for $10!! I love that they are colorful as I also saw a post going around showing how bright colored swimwear is safer for swimming.
I personally know that we will not always walk down to the pool in our neighborhood though, so having water activities in the backyard are a must as well. Calihan loves this sprinkler that twirls around – but small enough to not intimidate him. We also enjoy the inflatable pools that keep him cool in this heat if we still want to enjoy being outside.
If you live close to the beach – these sand toys are so adorable from Amazon! The neutral colors are not something you normally find when looking for beach toys.
The sink is also convenient for outdoor activities! Our cousin’s have an orange one and the kids love playing in it when over at their place. I currently have this blue one in my cart from Amazon as it also has good reviews! I saw on someone else’s post that they can fit into the activity tables – Winner!
There are also some other toys linked below that Cal really enjoys or I’ve seen others enjoy! Keeping the kiddos entertained this summer is the goal 🙂 For those that have kids home for the summer, have fun! I know we only get 18 summers with them as “kids” in total, so take full advantage.
Let me know if there are any toys you suggest!
