The most magical time of the year means a cup of hot cocoa, cozy socks, and Christmas movies! Lyall and I wanted to get into the Holiday spirit by watching a Christmas movie once Calihan goes to bed or as a family during the day. We decided to share some of our favorites with you + some friends and family members favorites as well!
- The Princess Switch – Switched Again
I absolutely love Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical is a FAVE from my teen years) Anyways, if you’ve seen the original then this is a great sequel. There is another switch that happens that involves three characters this time all played by Vanessa. So good. - The Grinch
We love the OG of course, but the cartoon is actually very cute! Calihan thought it was quite entertaining as well – great family movie. The theme song at the beginning didn’t seem right at first and I wasn’t impressed with the switch up, but it grew on me! - Holiday Rush
This is about a radio host that loses his job and has to move his four kids back to their starter home. There’s meaningful messages throughout the movie, and the ending is precious! Exactly the ending we all need to see. - Jingle Jangle : A Christmas Journey
The music is brilliant within this movie! I really enjoy musicals though, so if you are not really into them- just know you might not care for the entire movie. I don’t want to give away spoilers but it’s about toymakers. - Klaus
This is a cartoon so I was a little hesitant at first but it proved me wrong!! I was into this movie probably more than any of these honestly. Hilarious. I would highly suggest giving it a try! We found out it’s also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. - Holiday in the Wild
This movie was a must see considering we love Africa haha. This movie has Kristin Davis and Rob Lowe in Africa during Christmas time. There’s a cute part with an elephant orphanage that will make you want to hop on a plane now! This cute love story is worth the watch. - The Christmas Chronicles
This movie involves a brother and sister who lost their dad and the teenage boy stops believing in Santa. In order for him to believe, the sister convinces him to catch him in the act. They end up going on an adventure that made us belly laugh a few times. This is another movie with a great ending. - The Holiday Calendar
Kat Graham does a great job in her character that receives an advent calendar that ends up changing her life quite a bit each day to help her dreams! Of course, another love story involved which is clearly a trend in my favorites! - Elliot – The Littlest Reindeer
This was a big hit last year for Christmas also but watching it with Calihan made us realize how much we truly love this cartoon! He really can’t sit still but the parts he did watch – he really enjoyed. This is about a reindeer named Elliot trying to pursue his dreams of being on Santa’s crew. - Midnight at the Magnolia (this one is more of a holiday movie in general)
I had to finish with this movie because it was one of my favorites! This is not fully based during Christmas time but it’s about two friends that grew up together and host a radio station. They fake being a couple for their families and listeners to get a better deal – better ratings on their show. This all happens during Christmas / New Years time and it’s the CUTEST. Lyall actually laughed as I cried during certain parts. Of course, the classics will always be favorites as well. We can’t have a cozy Christmas without the OG movies. I’d love to hear if there’s any you’d add or if you have watched any of these!
