DIY Dip Powder Manicure

I recently was gifted a “mystery color” nail kit from Rossi Nails! The color I ended up receiving is called Flamingo – a fun pink color that was absolutely perfect for my style!

If you know me, you know that I am not into painting my nails and that going to a nail salon was my best friend if I wanted anything done. I actually only own two nail polishes. To be 100% honest I was very nervous when Rossi Nails asked to collaborate because I never do my nails at home. Thankfully, this process is incredibly easy! I honestly can’t say enough great things about this product.

The process:

Make sure your nails are SUPER clean. This way the powder will go on smoothly. Push back your cuticles but refrain from using any oils that could prevent the powder from applying onto your nail.

Use the Base Coat and apply to only 3/4 of the nail. Disclaimer: The first time I tried this on my thumb, I realized I put too much and it made the layer thick! Stay to the middle of your nail when applying and keep the layers super thin. This will ensure you can do 2-3 layers without your nails looking incredibly thick!

Quickly dip your nail into the powder at a 45-degree angle. I used a fluffy brush after to lightly brush off any excess powder. (The photo above is a tester size of the dip powder)

Apply another layer of the Base Coat but keep it a hairline away this time from the cuticle and dip one at a time. Dip your nails again making sure to keep that 45-degree angle.

Once the color is what you would like and you have brushed off the excess powder, apply a coat of the activator and let it air dry for 1-2 minutes. Once you do this, you can buff or file your nails!

Apply another layer of the activator and allow them to dry. This time I waited around 3-4 minutes just to be sure! Don’t overdo the activator when applying.

Finally, apply two layers of the top coat to finish! Allow the first layer to dry and then apply the second and you’re done! Beautiful long-lasting nails!

I highly recommend trying the dip powder if you are looking for a long wearing nail color without going to the salon during these times. Tip: Just go slow!

If I can do this, you can! I wanted to make sure I put my nails to the test these past few days to give the best review and I can proudly say they have held up! They have survived making s’mores, cooking, and chasing after an 11 month old!
